In his recent films, he pushed the limits of animation, creating 3D projection backgrounds that maintained it’s quality. His soft and detailed backgrounds have always been my inspiration ever since i started painting backgrounds back in 2013. As an avid background artist, I am deeply influenced by his art style and quality approach.
As i started on the project, i had 3 artist reference in mind. The first being Makoto Shinkai. Instead of projecting what i am seeing from the lighthouse, i decided that why not I show myself entering into the scene where i saw the beautiful sunset setting in a place where i loved most.ġ. In my last trip, I visited Enoshima Island, where it is known to be a famous spot for both tourists and locals due to it’s wonderful view from the lighthouse. I travel around from the busy streets in Tokyo, to the calm and relaxing countryside of Takayama.
As an aspiring background artist, I am deeply in love with the scenery and architecture of Japan. I came up with this title as to me, my self portrait is my journey around Japan. My title for this project is “ My Journey“. Below are the makings and behind the scenes of my self portrait. In this project, I am tasked to create a Breathing Self Portrait.
